Chemicals from hair spray, makeup, perfume and even body oils can cause your pearls to become dull so be sure to wipe them with a soft cloth after you wear them. Store them in a soft pouch away from harder jewelry that could cause scratching. Diamonds are a bit more hardy and will stand up to mild cleansers. Remember when removing your jewelry, never pull it off by the stone as this can cause it to come loose! Periodically checking the stone in the setting is a good idea as you can avoid losing a loose stone this way.
